DAY 1 : MARIENTAL
Kalahari Anib lodge is located 30 km north east of Mariental on the C20 (Kalahari) Savour the Kalahari Desert at this easily accessible lodge. 30 standard rooms flank a shady courtyard, with another 21 comfort overlooking Kalahari savannah. Stretch legs on the walks and join the afternoon drive to experience the red Kalahari sands glow with an inner fire.
DAYS 2 – 3 : FISH RIVER CANYON
After breakfast we will drive down south to Fish River Canyon. We will make a stop at the Giant’s Playground which is where massive dolerite boulders appear to have been purposefully placed on top of one another by a gigantic hand. You will also visit the Quiver Tree Forest which is a natural phenomenon that is well worth a visit. It is a natural forest of roughly 200 quiver trees, set on a large outcrop of blackish dolomite rocks. During your stay at Canyon Village you will have a chance to go see the Fish River Canyon, and relax and cool of at the beautiful swimming pool.
DAYS 4 : AUS
Early this morning you will driving to Aus which is Perched above the plains of the Namib Desert and tucked away in the rocky Aus Mountains also situated in the llKaras Region. Aus serves as an excellent base from which to explore the area and to view the main attraction: the feral horses of the Namib Desert, which run wild and free in the sparsely vegetated plains.
DAYS 5 – 6 : SOSSUSVLEI
Located in the scenic Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sussusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red dunes to make this one of the most scenic natural wonders of Africa. These unique dunes rise to almost 400 meters, which is some of the highest in the world. Here you can climb the ‘Big Daddy’ which is one of Sossusvlei’s tallest dunes. You will get to explore Deadvlei which is a white salt clay pan dotted with ancient trees. Walking through the Sesriem Canyon is also one of the highlights of the day. There are optional activities that can be booked at the lodge, such as scenic flights and hot air ballooning.
DAYS 7 : SWAKOPMUND
Leaving the beautiful desert behind we journey into the coolness of the coast where you can experience the beautiful scenery of the dunes and the sea at the same time. You will be staying in Swakopmund, beautiful town filled with historical buildings and which offers every traveler something to enjoy. Here are many activities that can be done from sky-diving to quadbiking or sliding down the dunes with a sand board. The highlighted activity is a boat cruise in Walvis bay where you will visit the bird island, meet dolphins playing in the water and pelicans joining the cruise.
DAYS 8: CAPE CROSS
Our next destination, Cape Cross Lodge which is situated along the Skeleton Coast and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Cape Cross is well known for its breeding of Cape Fur Seals and has been made a reserve. You will have the opportunity to go view these beautiful creatures which are fed by the many fish swimming in the cold Benguela current.
DAYS 9 : PALMWAG
Palmwag is a nature reserve situated along the Uniab River. The area is well known for its unusual species of palm trees. Due to the dry river, elephants are lured to the lodge. The palm tree surrounded lodge offers rooms and safari tents which will give you a memorable stay.
DAYS 10 – 11 : ETOSHA SOUTH
This morning you will be heading to Etosha. You will be staying at Etosha Safari Camp which is situated 10km south of the Anderssons gate. Here you will be able to enjoy relaxing at the friendly camp where entertaining music is played at the Oshebeena while winding down for the evening after an exciting day of game viewing.
DAYS 12 : OTJIWARONGO
Otjiwa, one of Namibia’s most diverse destinations, which enhances animal welfare of some endangered species and several rare species, as well as a tremendous bird life collection. Otjiwa offers a variety of activities which you can enjoy such as sundowner drives, walking trails, mountain biking and star gazing.
DAYS 13: WINDHOEK
After breakfast, you will be heading to your last destination, Windhoek which is the capital city of Namibia. On the way you will pass through Okahandja which holds Namibia’s biggest craft market where you can buy some beautiful souvenirs. You will be checked into your accommodation after arrival and get a chance to rest for a while before going on a City and Township tour where you will see how the local people live in the townships and visit the craft markets and museums in the city, not forgetting the famous Christuskirche. You can join us for a lovely dinner at Joe’s Beerhouse where stories of the journey will be shared.
DAYS 14: WINDHOEK
Today is the end of your adventure with Marek Adventures. You will be taken to the airport where you will journey home.
